Maybe I'll Go Back to School...
TORONTO (CP) - Beginning this fall, students at University of Toronto might see Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan listed on their course schedule.
The critically acclaimed director - who was nominated for two Academy Awards for his 1997 film The Sweet Hereafter - will begin a three-year stint teaching at the university in September.
Egoyan will join the faculty of arts and science as the dean's distinguished visitor in theatre, film, music and visual studies.
He will teach an undergraduate course, advise undergraduate and graduate students and participate in a series of annual public lectures.
Egoyan has made 10 feature films throughout his career, although his life has not solely been about motion pictures.
He has also worked as an opera director, making his debut in the genre in 1996 with the Canadian Opera Company's production of Salome.
Egoyan has also completed art installations for the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Artangel in London and Le Fresnoy in France.
